Three Brothers started Far East Flora Pte Ltd in 1965. With a van, they peddled door-to-door, selling delicate flowers and eggs, and earning daily sales of $100. Though the returns were enough to sustain the family business, the brothers were on to bigger and bolder dreams.
It was a few years later that the brothers decided to embark on the wholesale business of exporting orchids, which proved to be a success. And it was from here that the business expanded both locally and globally.
After establishing the wholesale department of cut flowers at Thomson Road in 1976, the plants retail department was subsequently formed in 1978 to complement and improve the product line and services. The initial flowers & gifts department existed as part of this plants retail department. With the company’s growth, the management saw business advantages in venturing into garden furniture, gardening tools and landscaping.
Far East Flora Pte Ltd has become one of Singapore’s largest wholesaler, as well as a major importer and exporter of plants, flowers, foliages, garden products and accessories. This has allowed Far East Flora (FEF) to offer a wider selection to consumers both locally and internationally. Some of the countries that FEF import and export to are Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Europe and America.
Far East Flora is also the proud winner of the Heritage Brand Award 2005 given by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Best Retail Nursery Award 2005 given by Landscape Industry Association.
As an integrated floriculture company with more than 40 years of experience, the company has close to 200 employees with business units ranging from retail nursery, online florist www.FarEastFlora.com, wholesale flower center, etc. To date, Far East Flora has come to represent consistent quality of service.
